Certificates

Ofqual does not hold copies of your certificates – we can’t tell you your grade or provide replacements. Certificates are held by the exam board you sat your qualification with. If you don’t know which exam board you took your qualification with, ask your school. If your school don’t know you will need to ask each exam board to do a search for you – they will charge you for this.

If your exam board no longer exists, your certificates will have moved to an existing board. Read the guidance on who holds your certificates.

Qualification International Equivalents

Ofqual is not able to make any formal comparisons between qualifications taken outside of the UK to the UK system. An organisation called ENIC can look at qualifications taken overseas and make formal comparisons.

Please be aware that Ofqual is not affiliated with ENIC and they are not an official government body.

Advice and support

You may find it helpful to have support. Your local Citizens Advice may be able to give you information and advice. There are other organisations that may be able to support people in specific situations, such as:

If you are concerned about possible criminal activity related to qualification fraud

If you are concerned someone may be at risk of harm

Ofqual is not a referral body for safeguarding, but we do signpost people at risk of harm to relevant advice and support.

  1. If you are worried about immediate risk of harm to yourself or another person, please contact the police.
  2. If you want to report concerns to a relevant organisation who can check out your concerns, please contact your local council.
  3. If you are looking for someone to talk to about your concerns you might find it helpful to talk to one of these organisations, some of which you can contact at any time of the day or night:
